The Conjuring 2 opened to $40.4 million. That's just a 3.5% drop from the $41.8 million opening of the original from July 2013. The sequel's "A-" CinemaScore is the same as the original's which is a great sign for the long term. The first Conjuring rode its opening to a whopping $137.4 million domestic, the biggest for a horror movie since What Lies Beneath from 2000 starring Harrison Ford. The Conjuring 2 faces competition from The Shallows in two weeks and The Purge 3 in three weeks, but the $40 million horror flick is already a hit. Foreign markets performed exceptionally well and brought the worldwide total to a terrific $91.9 million.

Universal spent $160 million on a World of Warcraft movie, and it debuted to a dismal $24.1 million. A "B+" CinemaScore is a decent sign going forward, but Universal was clearly expecting more with a budget like that. Luckily, China swooped in to save the day. Warcraft made $156 million in just five days in China, the biggest debut for a foreign release topping Avengers: Age of Ultron. Adding in other foreign markets and the movie has grossed $304.6 million worldwide. Assuming the movie doesn't tank tremendously, Universal should pull out alright from this one.

Now You See Me 2 conjured up $22.3 million on its opening. The sequel opened 23.7% behind its 2013 predecessor, which took excellent word of mouth to $117.7 million domestically. The sequel has the first film's "A-" CinemaScore, but obviously lacks the originality that gave the first one buzz back in the day. If Now You See Me 2 follows the path of the original, it gets to about $90 million domestic. Since that probably won't happen, the movie will likely tap out around $60 million domestic. Foreign markets will have to help out with the $90 million budget, and somebody will have to help out Lionsgate because someone over there is spending their Hunger Games money on gems like Gods of Egypt ($140m), Allegiant ($110m), and Last Witch Hunter ($90m). Now You See Me 2 has racked up $46.3 million worldwide.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows fell like a rock on its second weekend. The sequel pulled in $14.3 million (-59.3%) for a total of $60.6 million domestically, down 48.5% from the 2014 film through this time. Foreign markets have brought in a measly $55.3 million to help with the $135 million budget. At $115.9 million worldwide and no momentum, the film looks to be a bomb for Paramount. A solid chunk of this film's revenue will be merchandise.

X-Men: Apocalypse brought in $9.9 million (-56.6%) this weekend. At $136.2 million domestically, Apocalypse is running 28.1% below the numbers of Days of Future Past from two years ago. The performance may be weaker, but the movie is still a hit with a solid $475.9 million worldwide against a $178 million budget.

Me Before You grossed $9.0 million (-51.7%) in its second weekend. That's a hard fall for the romance, but not so dissimilar from the 69.2% drop that The Fault in Our Stars saw two years ago (that movie's phenomenon status led to a bloated first weekend) and the 63.3% drop of Paper Towns from last year. Me Before You comes out pretty well compared to those two, and has already grossed $55.4 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.

Poor Popstar made a lousy $1.6 million (-64.3%) this weekend. The Lonely Island's mockumentary has grossed just $8.3 million domestically in its two weeks of release.

The top ten are as follows:
